The Management of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), on October 5, joined educators and stakeholders worldwide in celebrating the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, honouring the contributions of teachers to human development and nation-building.
The Provost of the College, Engr. Prof. Victor I.O. Ndirika, FNIAE, described teachers as unsung heroes whose dedication to nurturing young minds and shaping future generations remains vital to the progress of every society.
Ndirika said teachers do more than impart knowledge, noting that they cultivate learning, character, creativity and excellence in students, preparing them for responsible citizenship and leadership.
According to him, the influence of teachers extends beyond the classroom, as they help build responsible citizens, promote innovation and contribute to national development across generations and communities.
The 2026 celebration, themed, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,” highlights the enduring importance of the teaching profession and its contribution to society.
The Provost stressed that building strong educational systems requires collective responsibility among teachers, students and other stakeholders to promote knowledge creation, innovation and sustainable development.
He commended the teaching staff of NOCEN for their diligence, professionalism and commitment to duty, urging them to sustain the standards expected of educators while remaining committed to the College’s vision of becoming a leading centre of learning, innovation and academic excellence.
Ndirika assured the teaching staff of Management’s continued support and encouragement, urging them to remain steadfast in their noble calling of educating, inspiring and transforming lives. He wished teachers worldwide, particularly those at NOCEN, a rewarding and fulfilling World Teachers’ Day.
