As the world marks the 2026 World Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Day on June 27, the Anambra State Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting enterprise development and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

In a goodwill message to commemorate the global observance, Ebonwu described MSMEs as the backbone of the economy, noting that they play a vital role in job creation, innovation, wealth generation and inclusive economic growth.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “The Future Generation of MSMEs,” the commissioner said the celebration presents an opportunity to strengthen support for entrepreneurs by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to build resilient, innovative and globally competitive businesses.

He said that the Solution Government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has continued to implement strategic policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the state’s MSME ecosystem through capacity building, improved market access, business-friendly reforms, strategic partnerships and enterprise development initiatives.

Ebonwu observed that although access to finance remains important, many small businesses also require sound business structures, continuous capacity development and timely access to information to maximise available opportunities and remain competitive in an evolving business environment.

He encouraged entrepreneurs, business owners and aspiring investors across the state to take advantage of the various programmes and opportunities provided by the Anambra State Government to build sustainable enterprises, create employment and contribute to the state’s economic transformation.

The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing policies that promote entrepreneurship, attract investment, strengthen the MSME sector and position Anambra as Nigeria’s leading destination for commerce, innovation and industrial development.
