The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Awka, Engr. Dr. Martins Agbili has warned Civil servants in the Ministry against lateness to work or closing at inappropriate times, even as they have been urged to show commitment to work at all times.

The Permanent Secretary gave the warning when he undertook an on the spot check of the Ministry Staff. He reminded them that the absence of Commissioners does not mean that work have stopped.

“We have not stopped working even though the cabinet has not been reconstituted, Mr. Governor in a meeting tasked us to ensure a smooth running of the offices and so, no vacuum must be allowed to exist.”

Engr. Martins said that visiting the Ministry is imminent after Mr. Governors unscheduled visit to the state secretariat. He reminded them that as a punitive measure, those who were not on seat when Mr. Governor visited were suspended for six months without pay.

The Permanent Secretary warned that it’s no longer business as usual and therefore all members of staff must report to work early and close at the appropriate time and must ensure their names were written on the attendance register.

He also commended the engineers amongst the staff, urging them to continue to carry-out their statutory duties with dispatch and ensure that they give to him a weekly progress report of their various projects.
