The Umueri community representative in the Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU), Lagos Branch, Mr. Chuks Onowu, has called on the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo administration to place greater priority on agriculture, describing the sector as vital to the continued growth, stability, and prosperity of Anambra State.
Onowu made the call during an interview on May 21, where he emphasized that agriculture boosts the economy by creating jobs, increasing food production, and generating income for farmers and businesses.
According to him, the sector also helps communities achieve food security, reduce poverty, and improve the standard of living of citizens.
He further observed that since Governor Soludo assumed office, governance in the state has improved significantly, particularly in the area of infrastructure development. He noted that the administration has demonstrated commitment to delivering meaningful progress across the state, adding that the achievements recorded so far are widely appreciated.
“I am particularly satisfied with the achievements recorded in infrastructure development. However, I would like to appeal to the government to prioritize the construction of the access road to the Anambra State International Cargo and Passenger Airport through Umueri, the host community, as this will further enhance accessibility and economic activities in the area,” he said.
Onowu also commended the government for its efforts in tackling insecurity in the state but appealed for more proactive measures to secure the lives and properties of residents.
The Umueri representative further lauded the governor’s appointment and inauguration of commissioners and other key government officials, noting that Prof. Soludo remains committed to selecting competent individuals for critical positions in the state.
