The administration of Chukwuma Soludo has introduced a series of measures aimed at ensuring road users obey traffic lights and comply with traffic regulations across Anambra State.
As part of the efforts, the government strengthened the operations of the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) to enforce traffic laws, reduce congestion, and ensure motorists comply with traffic lights and road signs in major cities such as Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi.
The administration also embarked on the installation and improvement of traffic infrastructure, including modern traffic lights, road signs, flyovers, and dualised roads at strategic locations. One of the major intervention points is the busy Aroma Junction, where traffic management facilities were upgraded to improve the orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

In addition, traffic officers have been deployed to major junctions across the state to monitor compliance with traffic signals and educate motorists on proper road use. ARTMA officials said the increased presence of traffic personnel has helped improve obedience to traffic lights and lane discipline among motorists.
The Soludo administration further introduced stricter traffic enforcement measures and penalties for offenders. The reforms include fines for reckless driving, illegal parking, and disobedience to traffic signals as part of efforts to instill discipline among road users.
The government has equally intensified road construction and rehabilitation projects to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety across the state. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) noted that improved road conditions help reduce dangerous driving habits often caused by gridlock and poor road infrastructure.
Meanwhile, public sensitisation campaigns are being carried out through traffic agencies and media enlightenment programmes to encourage drivers, tricycle operators, and commercial transport workers to obey traffic regulations and traffic lights for safer and more orderly transportation in the state.
