The free maternal healthcare initiative of the Anambra State Government has continued to ease access to healthcare services for pregnant women, as Okpoko General Hospital records the safe delivery of triplets under the programme.
The triplets, comprising two girls and a boy, were delivered on July 6, at the hospital, in what the mother described as a remarkable experience made possible through the government’s intervention.

The mother, Mrs. Onyinyechi Ndubuisi, a native of Onu-Eke in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, who resides in Awada, Obosi, Anambra State, expressed appreciation to the state government for providing free antenatal care, delivery services and caesarean section.
Speaking through a telephone interview, Mrs. Ndubuisi said the initiative had reduced the financial burden associated with childbirth and ensured that women could access quality healthcare services regardless of their place of origin.

She commended the medical team at Okpoko General Hospital for their professionalism and commitment, especially the doctor who successfully carried out neonatal resuscitation on the third baby.
Mrs. Ndubuisi urged expectant mothers to make use of government healthcare facilities, noting that they are staffed with qualified doctors, nurses and other health professionals.

She advised pregnant women against patronizing unqualified practitioners, stressing the need for skilled medical attention during pregnancy and childbirth.
The mother, who expressed gratitude for receiving free medical care throughout the process, prayed for God’s continued blessings on Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for prioritizing maternal and child healthcare in the state.
