Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reiterated his administration’s commitment to building an agile, effective, and efficient civil service in Anambra State.
The governor made this known during an unscheduled visit to the state secretariat, where he assessed staff conduct, punctuality, and the overall work environment across ministries and departments.
Speaking during the visit, Soludo emphasised that transforming the civil service is central to his administration’s agenda, noting that efficient service delivery relies on a responsive and accountable workforce.
To drive reform, he outlined three key pillars: the deployment of technology, effective supervision and evaluation, and physical infrastructure improvements. He explained that digital workflows would enhance speed, transparency, and efficiency, while modernisation of office facilities would provide a more conducive working environment.
Reacting to the reform priorities, a Senior Civil Servant in Onitsha North LGA, speaking on condition of anonymity, welcomed the changes, saying, “The digital workflow and infrastructure improvements are promising, but staff must be committed for these changes to truly succeed. Accountability is key,” he said.
Also speaking, Dr. Chime Uzoma, public administrator, said, “Governor Soludo’s approach covering technology, supervision and infrastructure is a solid framework. Its success will depend on consistent implementation and staff engagement.”
The governor maintained that combining technology, accountability, and improved infrastructure will strengthen the civil service’s capacity to deliver quality services to the people of Anambra State, ensuring that the government remains responsive, effective, and results driven.
