By MaryAnn Chukwuma
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has intensified efforts to advance Anambra State’s transition into a technology and innovation-driven economy through strategic engagements with leading institutions in Canada.
The governor disclosed this in a message shared on August 14 on his official Facebook page after a series of engagements with institutions contributing to the innovation, enterprise, healthcare and investment ecosystems in Brampton and Toronto.
As part of the visit, Soludo toured the Brampton Innovation District, where he engaged with key institutions, including Altitude Accelerator, Brampton Venture Zone, Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, BHive and the Brampton Board of Trade.

He also visited the Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine, where he gained insights into approaches to innovation, enterprise development, healthcare delivery, talent development and investment.
According to the governor, sustainable innovation thrives when government, skilled human capital, infrastructure and private enterprise work together within a coordinated ecosystem.

He said the lessons from the Canadian institutions were particularly relevant to Anambra’s development agenda, noting that his administration’s vision extends beyond physical infrastructure to building an environment where talent can flourish, innovative ideas can grow into viable businesses and technology can improve public services.

Soludo further stated that the engagements had reinforced his administration’s commitment to developing the Solution Innovation District (SID) and expanding the wider innovation ecosystem around it.
He reaffirmed that Anambra would continue to study successful global models, adapt them to the state’s local realities and build an economy driven by innovation, entrepreneurship and human capital.

The governor restated his administration’s ambition to “build here, innovate here, create here and compete globally,” expressing optimism that Anambra would continue to achieve progress through purposeful innovation and transformational leadership.
