Anambra State Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo has urged members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Anambra State to uphold discipline, patriotism, unity and selfless service throughout their national assignment.
Speaking on August 7 at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, the Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, urged the corps members to see the orientation course as an opportunity to build character, develop leadership qualities and prepare themselves for meaningful contributions to national development.
He admonished them to obey the rules and regulations guiding the orientation course, participate actively in camp activities, respect constituted authority and remain worthy ambassadors of their families and institutions. He also encouraged them to embrace Anambra’s rich cultural heritage and promote peaceful coexistence wherever they are posted.
Gov Soludo assured the corps members that his administration remains committed to their welfare. He acknowledged the deteriorating condition of the Permanent Orientation Camp and pledged government intervention to tackle the erosion menace and rehabilitate critical infrastructure to provide a safer and more conducive environment.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Anambra State NYSC Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Aghamba, welcomed the corps members to the state and encouraged them to embrace discipline, integrity, entrepreneurship and community service throughout their service year.
Aghamba described the NYSC Scheme as one of Nigeria’s most impactful programmes for promoting national unity, leadership development and community service. He urged the corps members to actively participate in all orientation activities and take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme to equip themselves with practical skills for self-reliance.
The Commissioner further challenged the corps members to embrace Community Development Service (CDS) with passion and commitment, noting that their knowledge and talents could be deployed to address community needs and create lasting impact in their places of primary assignment.
He added that Governor Soludo’s administration remains committed to youth empowerment through initiatives such as the Anambra Digital Tribe and 1Youth2Skills programmes.
In her welcome address, the Anambra State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, congratulated the corps members on their successful mobilisation and commended their orderly conduct since arriving at the camp. She urged them to remain law-abiding, avoid acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Scheme and make the most of every opportunity offered during the orientation exercise.
The ceremony featured the administration of the Oath of Allegiance by Hon. Justice J.U. Obiora, representing the Chief Judge of Anambra State, and was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Ifeatu Emodi, representatives of the EFCC, DSS, FRSC, traditional rulers, local government officials and other stakeholders.Soludo Charges Corps Members on Discipline, Skills Acquisition, Patriotism
