Former Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Don Onyenji, says plans to transform five major tourism heritage sites in Anambra have reached an advanced stage, with the Soludo administration already completing a Tourism Master Plan.
Onyenji made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with DDM Television on June 28 while outlining the state’s roadmap for expanding tourism and attracting private investment.
He said the government engaged tourism consultants to prepare a comprehensive Tourism Master Plan for five major heritage tourism destinations across Anambra State.

According to him, the identified sites are Agulu Lake, Ogbunike Cave, Owere Ezukala Cave and Waterfalls, Anam Beach and the proposed Awka City Park.
The former commissioner explained that the master plan was completed before the end of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s first tenure and is awaiting presentation to the State Executive Council.
He expressed optimism that his successor would soon present the document for approval, paving the way for simultaneous development of the heritage tourism sites.
Onyenji said the projects would be implemented through a Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP), describing the model as the most sustainable approach to delivering world class tourism infrastructure.
He maintained that the ongoing tourism investments, including the proposed Agulu Lake development, demonstrate the Soludo administration’s commitment to positioning Anambra as Nigeria’s leading tourism destination.
