The installation of solar-powered street lights across strategic roads and vulnerable areas in Onitsha South Local Government Area has been described as a major achievement of the administration of Hon. Prince Jerry Emeka Asoanya during his tenure as Transition Committee Chairman of the council.
In a statement titled “Odoakpu Will Rise Again — Divine Mandate 2027,” by Ifeanyi Charles Ifedi, the project was highlighted as evidence of purposeful, visionary, and result-oriented leadership aimed at improving the welfare and security of residents.
According to the statement, the solar lighting initiative has significantly enhanced visibility across affected communities, improved public safety, and revitalised nightlife activities within the area. Residents were said to have regained confidence in movement after dark as the project contributed to reducing criminal activities in previously vulnerable locations.
The statement further noted that the project reflects Asoanya’s commitment to people-oriented governance and practical solutions capable of improving daily living conditions for the people of Odoakpu and Onitsha South at large.
Asoanya, who is aspiring to represent Onitsha South Constituency II in the Anambra State House of Assembly, was described as a progressive-minded leader with the vision and capacity to drive sustainable development.
“He remains committed to projects that are visible, verifiable, and impactful. His leadership style prioritises action and tangible results over mere rhetoric,” the statement read.
Ifeanyi added that the solar light project aligns with the broader vision of the “Divine Mandate 2027,” which seeks to promote a safer, stronger, and more united Odoakpu through responsive and development-focused leadership.
