The Solution Innovation District (SID) on June 17, received a delegation from global infrastructure company ACCIONA as part of the African Development Bank (AFDB) Group’s African Cities Programme.

The visit provided an opportunity for strategic discussions with the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation and Chief Executive Officer of SID, Miss. Chinwe Okoli. The talks centered on the use of innovation, technology and human capital development to promote climate-resilient and sustainable urban growth in Anambra State.

During the engagement, the ACCIONA team toured SID’s permanent site in Awka, where they were briefed on the state’s vision for a world-class innovation ecosystem aimed at developing skilled talent, supporting startups and driving economic growth.

Speaking on the collaboration, Miss. Okoli said the initiative aligns with Governor Soludo’s “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” agenda. She noted that such partnerships strengthen the state’s efforts to expand resilient infrastructure, enhance digital skills and create opportunities for young people.

She added that the engagement reflects Anambra’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to address urban challenges while fostering sustainable development.
Officials disclosed that discussions would continue as the state seeks to establish itself as a leading centre for climate-smart city solutions and technology-driven economic advancement in Africa.
