In preparation for its maiden Igbo Day celebration scheduled on June 13, 2026, a delegation from Shanahan University’s School of General Studies visited two prominent traditional rulers in Anambra State.
The delegation led by Prof. Ngozi Ezenwa-Ohaeto, paid courtesy calls to His Royal Highness Igwe Sunday Udorji Emmanuel Ọzọemena of Ivite-Anam and His Royal Highness Igwe Gerald Mbamalụ of Ojoto.
The visits aimed to notify the royal fathers of the upcoming event and secure their support, guidance, and participation. The delegation stressed the value of involving Igbo tradition custodians to ensure the celebration’s authenticity and cultural depth.

Prof. Ezenwa-Ohaeto underscored the university’s dedication to advancing Igbo heritage via academic and cultural programs. She explained that royal input would enhance the event and offer profound insights into Igbo customs and values.
The inaugural Igbo Day, convened by the School of General Studies, is anticipated to serve as a platform for cultural education, scholarly discourse, and appreciation, assembling scholars, students, and cultural stakeholders.
Officials of the University expressed optimism that collaboration with traditional institutions would contribute substantially to the success of the event, describing it as a measure toward reinforcing the nexus between academia and indigenous heritage.
