Retired Director, Education, Mrs Bibian Nweze has expressed displeasure to poor work attitude of civil servants, to the tune of not seated at work desk at about 10am.

She made her position public in an interaction with information officers, at Akpo, in Aguata LGA, on March 28.

The senior citizen said, “Every reasonable person takes his or her stomach seriously, little wonder an Igbo adage says(Akughi aku eri n’aru afo), it means that food must be worked for.
The good book put it this way, he who does not work, let him not eat.

“So, collecting salaries or wages from government without working for it adequately is wrong entirely.

“Suffice me to commend Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his doggedness to going to Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex Awka personally, ascertaining personnel attitude to work.

“His findings proved that many workers were not at their duty desk at about 10am.
This poor attitude of workers made him pronounced 6 months suspension without pay to erring personnel.

According to her, the bad attitude deserves punishment, no doubt, yet with the present day economic realities, it may be difficult to bear, especially among those with children depending wholly on them.

“My plea here is that he tamper justice with mercy so as to make it serve as pointer to workers.”

Mrs Nweze congratulated the governor for successful swearing in into second tenure, on March 17.

“His performance in the last four years has a lot to write home about.
“In education where I belong, I will score him 95 percent.
“His performance in health sector is unprecedented. In road infrastructure, he is second to none in the history of Anambra State.

“In fact with Soludo’s antecedents, Anambra State future is bright.
“In view of what happened at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka, on March 26, will be directed to attendance register.

“Let us not lose sight of the fact that there are state civil servants in various Local Government Areas.
“There is no way they can come to Awka on Mondays or any other days to sign attendance before going to their duty post.
“Before now, those of them that were information officers were judged by news stories produced.
“Information officers domiciled in local government go out on Mondays, pay cut throat transport fee to gathering information, buy fuel at cut throat rate to powering generator hence there is no light in the rural areas, demand attention.
“The officer will sit down, articulate these stories and produced it, get it published in Anambra State news platform, yet get his salary slashed for not coming to Awka to sign attendance, seems to me as a point to ponder.
“These workers in out stations, especially in distance local government area, ought to be considered and adjudged by their productions.
“Information gathering, sieving and dissemination is more to field work than office, performance ought to be adjudged differently.
