The SECHUWARIIS Development Foundation has sponsored the enrollment of 241 persons into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) during an adoption exercise held on May 13, at Amichi Diocesan Hospital.
The Foundation, under the leadership of its Chancellor, Mrs. Eunice Ezeoke, also renewed the health insurance enrollment of 130 previously registered beneficiaries, bringing the total number of persons supported by the Foundation to 371.
Representing the Foundation during the exercise, the Sechuwariis Office Manager, Mrs. Okoli Uzoma Blessing, said that the Foundation remains committed to improving access to healthcare for vulnerable persons in the community. She further disclosed that the Foundation equally covers the 10 per cent counterpart payment required from enrollees under the ASHIA adoption model.
Mrs. Okoli noted that the initiative was aimed at ensuring that indigent persons and families have uninterrupted access to affordable and quality healthcare services through the state health insurance scheme.
ASHIA representative, Mrs. Anoliefo Nneoma, sensitized the newly enrolled beneficiaries on the importance of health insurance and the need to utilize their enrollment responsibly. She educated them on the benefits of the ASHIA scheme, access to healthcare services, and the importance of adhering to referral procedures for effective healthcare delivery.
Also present during the enrollment exercise was the Hospital Administrator of Amichi Diocesan Hospital, Ven. Godson Ugochukwu, who commended the Foundation for its humanitarian efforts and commitment towards improving the wellbeing of residents through health insurance support.
One of the beneficiaries of the exercise, Mrs. Ogochukwu Caroline Anumba, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for enrolling her into the scheme, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
