The State AIDS and STI Control Programme (SASCP) has paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Ezeka Augustine, at the Agency’s office in Awka on May 7.
Speaking during the visit, the State AIDS Programme Coordinator (SAPC), Dr. Mbagwu Tonia Ogochukwu, expressed the desire of SASCP to sustain and strengthen its existing collaboration with ASHIA in the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents of Anambra State.
Dr. Mbagwu noted that ASHIA has remained a dependable partner in the implementation of health programmes across the State, especially in areas relating to HIV prevention, treatment, and support services. She expressed optimism that the partnership between both agencies would continue to grow stronger for the benefit of the people.
On behalf of the SASCP team, she congratulated Dr. Ezeka Augustine on his appointment as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, describing his emergence as well-deserved and expressing confidence in his leadership capacity.
In his response, Dr. Ezeka appreciated the SASCP team for the visit and reaffirmed ASHIA’s commitment to maintaining a productive and impactful partnership with the programme. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among health institutions and stakeholders in achieving improved healthcare coverage and better health outcomes for Ndi Anambra.
Dr. Ezeka assured the delegation that ASHIA would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening access to healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable populations across the State.
Other members of the SASCP delegation present during the visit included Kenechi Onuegbu, Focal Person for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), and Mkpuluma Ogechukwu, Focal Person for Antiretroviral Therapy/Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (ART/PrEP), who also congratulated the Executive Secretary on his appointment and pledged their continued support and cooperation.
