Rev. Bosah of the Church of Redemption, Umunya, has charged mothers to promote unity, forgiveness and love in their families, church and communities.

Bosah gave the charge on Aug. 16 during the church’s Mothers’ August Meeting Thanksgiving Service with the theme, “That They May Be One,” drawn from John 17:21.

He said Christ’s prayer for unity was a divine mandate, urging mothers to serve as builders of peace and unity in their homes, church and society.

“God is calling mothers to be builders of unity. A home that is divided cannot stand. A church that is divided cannot grow. ‘That they may be one’ was Christ’s heart cry, and it must be our practice,” he said.

The cleric urged the mothers to embrace forgiveness, love and teamwork, while shunning gossip, envy and strife, stressing that unity in prayer and purpose would protect children and transform communities.

He also prayed for the mothers, asking God to grant them strength, wisdom, good health and grace to raise godly children.

A major highlight of the service was the investiture of selected mothers as Ezinne, meaning “good mother,” in recognition of their Christian virtues, commitment to the church and positive contributions to their families and communities. The honourees were adorned with sashes, presented with gifts and prayed for by the church leadership.

Responding on behalf of the new Ezinnes, Mrs Cecilia Okafor thanked God and the church, describing the title as both an honour and a responsibility. The President of the Women’s Home and Abroad Meeting, Mrs Amaka Okafor, expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness, preservation, fruitfulness and provision while cutting the August Meeting cake.

The Mothers’ August Meeting Thanksgiving is an annual event of the Church of Redemption, Umunya, organised to celebrate God’s faithfulness and encourage mothers to make greater contributions to their families, church and community.
