The Chief Medical Director of El Dorado Multi-Specialist Hospital, Awka, Prof. Chiemelu Emegoakor, has joined the Anambra State Government and it’s citizens at home and in the diaspora in congratulating the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly on its third anniversary, applauding its legislative contributions to the development of the state.

In a statement issued at Awka to mark the occasion, Prof. Emegoakor expressed satisfaction with the cordial working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, describing it as a key factor driving development across various sectors and the three senatorial zones of Anambra State.

He commended the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, principal officers and members of the Assembly for what he described as their commitment to people-oriented legislation and resolutions that have positively impacted governance and development in the state.

While celebrating the Assembly’s achievements, Prof. Emegoakor urged the state government to intensify efforts towards strengthening primary healthcare delivery across Anambra, noting that accessible and efficient healthcare remains critical to sustainable development.

The medical expert also spoke on the nation’s security challenges, expressing support for the proposed establishment of state police as a strategy for addressing insecurity in Nigeria.

He welcomed the reported approval of the state police bill by the House of Representatives, calling on the senate to give similar support to the legislation, appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to assent to the bill once it is passed by the national assembly.

Prof. Emegoakor described the current security situation in parts of the country as a national emergency, requiring urgent and decisive action from all levels of government.

He expressed optimism that stronger security structures, alongside sustained developmental policies, would contribute to greater peace, stability and economic growth across the nation.
