Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga of Anambra State Police Command, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening community partnership as activities marking the ongoing sensitization week build up to a grand finale of April 7, 2026 Police day across the country.
Speaking during an interview, the PPRO, described the Police week programme as a strategic initiative aimed at fostering trust, improving public awareness, and encouraging citizens to cooperate with the Police, as Police is their friend and are always there for them at all times.
In the interview, SP Ikenga described the Police programme which started on March 30, with sanitation and cleaning in the state capital as activity shaped for inclusion, touching of humanity, such as school and hospital visitation.
According to the spokesperson, the sensitization campaign organized as part of activities leading to the annual national Police day focuses on educating members of the public on safety, crime prevention, and importance of community Policing.
He noted that various outreach programmes including road safety awareness, youth engagement, and community dialogues, have been carried out in the state to ensure grassroots participation.
“This week is not just about the Police speaking to the people, but also listening to them. Building trust remains at the heart of effective Policing,” PPRO noted.
He further emphasized that the grand finale will bring together stakeholders from different sectors, including traditional rulers, civil society groups, and government officials, to consolidate the gain of the sensitization campaign, adding that the initiative reflects the Force’s renewal drive toward transparency, accountability, and people centered policing, urging Ndi Anambra to sustain the cooperation beyond the commemorative week.
The PPRO, also highlighted that, the Police sensitization week is part of broader efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to deepen community partnership and promote safer society through continuous engagement and awareness.
