The Anambra State Police Command has demonstrated its dedication to the safety and welfare of residents by promptly assisting an unidentified man who collapsed on the road in Awada.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 pm on April 4, 2026, when police operatives attached to the Awada Division, while conducting routine Easter patrols along the Onitsha-Owerri Road, observed the man lying helpless by the roadside.
The officers swiftly responded by evacuating the individual to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim may have suffered a medical emergency, possibly related to hypertension. Thanks to the timely intervention of the police operatives, the victim has been stabilized and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their alertness and sense of duty, emphasizing that policing encompasses not only crime prevention but also humanitarian services and the protection of lives.
The Command reassures the public of its continued commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment throughout the Easter celebrations and beyond.
