‎The Anambra State Police Command has arrested Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele ‘M’, aged 25, identified as the last known member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly led by a suspect known as “Pincode.”
‎
‎Oyelu was arrested in the early hours of Sept. 23, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) following sustained intelligence gathering and detailed investigations into a 2023 kidnapping incident that resulted in the death of the victim.
‎
‎The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in an official statement issued to journalists in Awka on Sept. 24.
‎According to Ikenga, the suspect was allegedly an active member of the gang involved in the kidnapping operation. He said the police commenced extensive investigations after the incident to identify, apprehend and prosecute all those connected with the crime.

‎The command said Oyelu’s arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation, adding that the suspect would, after the conclusion of investigative proceedings, be handed over to the Correctional Centre where “Pincode” and four other suspects are already being remanded pending the determination of the case by the court.
‎
‎The police said the development further demonstrates the command’s commitment to ensuring that anyone found to have participated in the crime is brought to justice.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the operatives for their perseverance, dedication and intelligence-led approach in tracking down the suspect.
‎
‎He assured Ndi Anambra that the command would continue its efforts to apprehend criminal elements operating within and outside the state and ensure that they face the law.
‎
‎The commissioner also appealed to members of the public to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility.
