The commitment of the Anambra State Government to a clean, efficient, and conducive working environment has continued to gain momentum, as Permanent Secretaries across ministries have thrown their weight behind the ongoing office and environmental clean-up exercise within the state secretariat.

The initiative follows an unannounced inspection visit by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the State Secretariat, where he observed the presence of unserviceable office equipment within and around government offices, an issue he noted could undermine productivity and create an unhealthy work environment.

In swift response, the Head of Service, Ngozi Iwunno, Esq., directed a comprehensive clean-up exercise across ministries, departments, and agencies, mobilizing officers to restore order, cleanliness, and functionality within their workspaces.

Speaking on the development, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Engr. Micheal Obiekwe, described the exercise as a welcome initiative in the civil service, expressing optimism that it would be sustained on a monthly basis.

“This is a very commendable development for the civil service. If sustained, it will not only improve our working environment but also enhance productivity.

A clean environment is essential for healthy living and effective service delivery,” he noted.

Also lending his voice, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Tochukwu Obodogha, noted that the exercise aligns with the Clean and Green vision of the Soludo administration.

“This initiative is in line with the Clean and Green agenda of the present administration. We encourage everyone to key into it, as it will go a long way in addressing environmental degradation and supporting efforts towards mitigating the effects of climate change.”

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Supervising Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Pharm. Dr. Oby Uchebo, underscored the significance of a healthy environment, describing it as a foundation for productivity, peace, and overall progress within the civil service.

“A healthy environment is critical to our overall wellbeing. Where there is cleanliness, there is peace, productivity, and progress.

“This exercise is a step in the right direction and should be embraced by all.”

The coordinated response by top civil servants highlights a renewed sense of discipline, responsibility, and alignment with government policies, reinforcing the drive toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Anambra State.
