In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the National Council of Women’s Societies Nigeria (NCWS), Anambra West Chapter, has conducted a community outreach across several lkcommunities within Anambra West Local Government Area.
The outreach, carried out in collaboration with the Anambra West Local Government Authority, was led by the Acting Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Edith Nkieru Ndive. The initiative focused on engaging elderly women at the grassroots level, with an emphasis on promoting inclusive development and improving their welfare.

During the exercise, which spanned multiple communities in the LGA, beneficiaries received a range of support items, including cash assistance, wrappers, detergents, washing soaps, and food supplies. The intervention was designed to enhance their living conditions, strengthen their economic capacity, and encourage active participation in community life.
Speaking during the outreach, Hon. Ndive highlighted the importance of supporting elderly women, describing them as critical stakeholders in sustainable development. She reaffirmed the commitment of NCWS to advocating for the welfare, rights, and advancement of women, particularly at the grassroots.

The collaboration between NCWS and the Anambra West Local Government, underscores a shared commitment to improving the quality of life for women and fostering unity, growth, and social inclusion within the communities.
Community leaders and beneficiaries who witnessed the outreach expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its timely impact and calling for its continuation and expansion to reach more women across the local government area.

The NCWS Anambra West Chapter reiterated its dedication to strengthening women’s voices and creating opportunities that will enable them to thrive and contribute meaningfully to societal development.
