A new era of peace has dawned on Nando, marking the end of a 67-year land dispute between Umu-Awo Village and Abube Agu Village

The conflict, which lasted for decades, had led to destruction of properties, strained relationships, and a breakdown of social unity between the two villages.

The crisis had become so deep-seated that inter-marriage between the villages became impossible, despite their shared ancestry and geographical proximity.

As a result, generations grew up knowing only division, with repeated clashes and unresolved grievances perpetuating the cycle of violence.

However, a new chapter has been written, thanks to the deliberate and patient efforts of the Anambra East Local Government Area’s Mayor, Hon. Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze, who successfully brokered reconciliation between the villages.

An agreement was established to clearly define common boundary, with both villages agreeing to respect each other’s territory.

This achievement marks the end of decades of conflict and restores hope for unity, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence between the villages.

Sir Chinweze, the Mayor of Anambra East makes efforts to demonstrate his commitment to peace building and conflict resolution in Anambra East.
His leadership fosters harmony, development, and renewed communal relationships among the people.

This is a testament to the power of dialogue, leadership, and the collective will for peace

Ifeanyi is of the Ministry of Information, Anambra State
