Parents have been urged to make the upbringing of their children a priority by dedicating adequate time and attention to their development.

Mrs Uchechi Nnamani, wife of the founder of Vale of Hebron Seedtime and Harvest Revival Labours, Uru Ogidi, made the call on Sept. 8, during the Christian ministry’s weekly Tuesday meeting at its revival ground.

Nnamani said parents had a crucial role to play in shaping the character and future of their children, stressing that the formative years required adequate guidance, love and supervision.

She cautioned parents against becoming overly occupied with work, business and other commitments at the expense of their children, noting that inadequate parental attention could expose them to negative influences.

“Parents should create time for their children, listen to them and understand the challenges they are facing. Children need the presence and guidance of their parents as they grow,” she said.

Nnamani also advised parents to lead by example, noting that children often learnt more from their parents’ actions than their words.

She encouraged parents to monitor their children’s friendships, activities and use of technology, while instilling in them godly values, discipline and responsible behaviour.

The cleric further stressed the importance of open communication between parents and children, saying it would enable them to freely discuss their fears, challenges and experiences.

She said although schools and churches had roles to play in children’s development, the family remained fundamental to their proper upbringing.

Nnamani urged parents to invest quality time in their children, describing such investment as essential to raising responsible, disciplined and God fearing individuals who would contribute positively to society.
