‎The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, Anambra State. The arrest followed open-source intelligence received by the command on the evening of Sept. 10, concerning a disturbing video trending online, which allegedly showed a woman using sex toys on a minor.
‎
‎According to a statement issued to journalists in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Sept. 11, the police operation also resulted in the rescue of four children aged two, three, six and nine years respectively. The command further disclosed that sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were recovered during the operation.
‎
‎The suspect is currently being detained by the police as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and to establish whether other persons may have been involved. The husband of the suspect is also being interrogated by the police to determine if he has any connection with the alleged incident.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama,  expressed deep concern over the alleged act, describing the exploitation and abuse of children as unacceptable, particularly given their vulnerability and inability to protect themselves.
‎
‎CP Oji Ama has consequently ordered a thorough and professional investigation into the matter, while directing that the rescued children be provided with the necessary care and protection.
‎
‎The command stressed that its responsibility extends beyond investigation and prosecution, noting that the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children remain paramount. It said it would collaborate with relevant child-protection and support agencies to provide the children with appropriate care, protection, counselling and other necessary assistance to aid their recovery.
‎
‎The police also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the process, adding that they would be treated with compassion and sensitivity.
‎
‎The command commended vigilante operatives in the area, bloggers and residents whose timely provision of information contributed to the investigation and subsequent arrest of the suspect.
