As the world marks the International Day of the Girl Child, the Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike, has extended heartfelt felicitations to the brilliant and resilient girls of Orumba South, and indeed, the world, describing the day as a powerful reminder of their boundless potential.

Hon. Azubuike noted that October 11 is more than a date on the calendar, it is a declaration of potential and an urgent call to action. He commended the courage, intelligence, and determination of young girls, affirming that they are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also innovators and change makers of today.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to gender equity and education, the council boss assured that Orumba South remains resolute in advancing the rights of every girl to a safe, educated, and healthy life.

“We must collectively dismantle the barriers that limit our girls from gender inequality to restricted access to education, our pledge is to build an environment where girls’ voices are heard, their dreams nurtured and their rights protected,” he pointed out.

The mayor called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to take active roles in supporting girl child development through mentorship, encouragement, and equitable opportunities.

In his inspiring message to girls across the world, he urged them to stand tall, speak up and never stop believing in the power of your own story. He noted that the girl you are today is the change our world needs.
