The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, has called on women across the state to become advocates for the protection of vulnerable persons, including persons living with disabilities, while promoting equality and inclusion within their communities.
Hon. Onyekesi made the appeal on June 26 when she received members of various women’s organizations, including the Divine Ladies and Nonyelu Solution, Ihiala Chapter, led by Mrs. Nkechi Nnaemeka, during a solidarity visit to her office in Awka.
She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of building a more inclusive and caring society, stating that the ministry remains focused on improving the welfare of women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups across Anambra State.
The commissioner also encouraged the visiting organizations to partner with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare as well as the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative to address social injustices affecting vulnerable members of society.
According to her, such collaboration will strengthen the ministry’s programmes and promote sustainable social development throughout the state.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting groups, representatives, including a delegation from the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), commended the commissioner for her warm reception and expressed confidence in her leadership.
They offered prayers for wisdom and strength as she continues to champion initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of orphans, vulnerable children, and other disadvantaged persons in the state.
