Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, has praised the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Women Leader Events Committee for their unwavering support since her appointment as APGA State Woman Leader.
Mrs. Onyekesi made the remarks during a solidarity visit to her office by the committee, which plans APGA women’s events in the state and is led by Dame Obianuju Nwaora of Anambra West. She thanked members for their backing and asked them to continue supporting her in her new role.
“We are together in this; let’s be our sisters’ keeper. Once in a while, put a call across. If I don’t call you, call me because I may be carried away with official duties,” she said. She urged the group to keep working with dedication and unity, adding that good deeds will be rewarded even if not immediately recognized by people.
Mrs. Onyekesi said she was surprised and honored that the Governor personally noted her contributions to women’s service in the state. She expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the opportunity to serve Anambra in a higher capacity.
Speaking earlier, Dame Obianuju Nwaora and former Special Assistant on Water Resources, Hon. Vivian Nwangene, commended Mrs. Onyekesi’s resilience and steadfast support for Governor Soludo, which they said contributed to her elevation.
Other speakers, including Mrs. Ngozi Nwobu, a Former Personal Assistant to Mrs. Onyekesi, and Ada Oba, ADS National Woman Leader, described the commissioner as a fitting choice for the Women Affairs ministry and praised her performance since assuming office.
