The staff of Onitsha South Local Government Area of the Anambra State and all workers in the state have been urged to improve in service delivery through high level of dedication.
The Chairman, Onitsha South Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ngozi Alaebo said this in an interview with information officer during a Workers’ Day celebration held at Ekwueme Square, Awka the capital city of Anambra State.
Comrade Alaebo said that workers executing their duty with a high level of professionalism will go a long way to the growth and development of the state.
She urged them to shun absenteeism and lateness to office while urging the State Government led by Governor Charles Soludo to increase the salary of the state workers.
The union leader lamented that as a result of hike in fuel price, the salary of an every average worker in the state is not enough for them to feed well talkless of taking care of the transportation to their offices.
According to her, the government should take the welfare of the workers seriously by increasing their salary as well as providing transportation that subsidises the transport fare of the workers or reduce the days of working days.
