The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has issued a fresh warning to motorists against violating one-way traffic regulations, describing the act as a dangerous offence that poses serious risks to lives and property.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page as part of its ongoing public enlightenment campaign on road safety, the agency emphasized that driving against the approved flow of traffic remains one of the leading causes of road accidents, traffic congestion and avoidable fatalities across the state.
ARTMA noted that motorists caught flouting one-way traffic rules will face the appropriate sanctions provided under existing traffic laws, adding that offenders may be subjected to fines and other penalties aimed at deterring reckless driving and promoting responsible road use.
According to the agency, adherence to traffic regulations is essential for maintaining order on the roads, ensuring the safety of all road users, including motorists, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians.
ARTMA also urged drivers to pay close attention to traffic signs, road markings and directives issued by traffic management officials, stressing that compliance is critical to reducing accidents and improving traffic flow in urban and rural communities.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to strict enforcement of traffic regulations while sustaining awareness campaigns designed to educate road users on safe driving practices. It called on motorists to cultivate discipline behind the wheel and avoid actions that could endanger lives or disrupt public safety.
ARTMA maintained that collective adherence to traffic rules remains a key factor in building a safer and more efficient transportation system across Anambra State.
