The Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting lasting peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among communities within the council area.

Sir Chinweze made the pledge on June 15, during an on-the-spot assessment of the disputed land at Ogbe Awusa, where boundary concerns exist between the Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities.

The inspection was attended by the traditional rulers and Presidents-General of both communities, who accompanied the Chairman and provided firsthand accounts of the issues surrounding the dispute.

Speaking after the assessment, the Chairman emphasized that peaceful coexistence remains a top priority of his administration. He reiterated his resolve to foster harmony, mutual respect, and sustainable development across all communities in Anambra East Local Government Area.

Addressing youths from both communities, Sir Chinweze cautioned against actions capable of escalating tensions or leading to the destruction of lives and property. He urged them to channel their energy into productive ventures that would contribute to the growth, development, and prosperity of their communities.

To address the root causes of the dispute, the Chairman assured stakeholders that his administration would undertake an independent and fact based investigation.

He pledged to apply fairness, wisdom, and due process in pursuing an amicable resolution that protects the interests of both Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities while strengthening their longstanding relationship and those of neighbouring communities.

Sir Chinweze further stressed that his administration remains committed to resolving local disputes through dialogue, justice, and mutual understanding, which he described as the foundation for a peaceful, stable, and united Anambra East.
