The Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration exercise in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, has entered its final phase, with residents across the community’s six wards urged to register before the exercise closes.
A timetable released on June 15 sets designated registration centres and dates. Registration runs from 9:00 a.m. daily as follows: Okpoko I (Ward 1), June 11, 12, 15 and 16 at Akpulu Town Hall; Okpoko Ward 2, June 17–19 at the Custom Office; Okpoko Ward 3 June 22–24 at Independent Hall; Okpoko Ward 4, June 25, 26 and 29 at Umuobo Hall; Okpoko Ward 5, June 30 and July 1 at OCSP II; and Okpoko Ward 6, July 2, 3 and 6 at Otumoye Primary School.
Hon. Uche Egbogu, councillor representing Okpoko Ward 6, described the PVC as “the voice, right and future of every citizen” and urged eligible residents to register or update their details during the last phase. “This is the opportunity to ensure you are enfranchised for future elections,” he said.
Hon. Chidiebere Umechukwu, councillor for Ward 1, used a town crier today to remind residents of Ward 1 about the ongoing registration at Akpulu Town Hall, located near Grace of God Motors, stressing that without a PVC one cannot vote.
Residents have been advised to turn out in large numbers on their assigned dates to secure their eligibility for upcoming elections.
