‎Residents of Nenwe Street, Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State have appealed to government officials to urgently intervene in the worsening erosion menace threatening their community.
‎
‎The appeal was made on  June 11, during a sanitation exercise held by members of the street, led by the Chairman, Chief Ben Akamonu.
‎
‎Speaking on behalf of the residents, Chief Akamonu called on the Member representing Ogbaru I Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and the Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area to urgently intervene, warning that without immediate action, the community risks being completely cut off by erosion.
‎

‎According to him, residents now sleep with one eye open whenever it rains heavily at night for fear of possible disaster caused by the advancing erosion.
‎
‎The community also lamented the absence of a functional borehole within the area, noting that access to potable water remains a major challenge. They appealed to the relevant authorities to provide a borehole to alleviate the suffering of residents.
‎
‎Members of the street expressed hope that their renewed appeal would attract prompt attention from the authorities and bring much-needed development to the area.
