The Principal of Unity Comprehensive High School, Okpoko, Mrs. Benedict Nnopu, has commended Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his developmental strides across the state, describing him as a “remarkable governor” who honours his commitments.
While acknowledging the Governor’s achievements, Mrs. Nnopu appealed for urgent government intervention to address critical challenges affecting safety and learning conditions at the school.
She called on Governor Soludo to assist in reinforcing and securing the school’s perimeter fence, lamenting that the premises remain vulnerable to criminal intrusion. “We appeal to our able Governor to kindly intervene in fortifying the school fence. Miscreants are gaining unrestricted access to the compound, and the environment is no longer safe for pupils and staff,” she stated.
The Principal further drew attention to the acute shortage of teaching personnel, urging the state government to recruit additional teachers to reduce the workload on existing staff and enhance the quality of education. She also requested the construction of an ultra-modern hall to accommodate academic activities, examinations, official meetings, and other school events.
While commending the Governor as a leader who “keeps to his word,” Mrs. Nnopu equally appealed for the provision of a school canteen to enable students and teachers access meals in a hygienic and conducive environment. “We deeply appreciate His Excellency for all he has done for Ndi Anambra. We respectfully implore him to remember our school, so that our children may learn in a safe and befitting environment,” she added.
