‎With only six days remaining before the close of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, stakeholders in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, have intensified efforts to encourage eligible residents to register before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline of July 26.
‎

‎Speaking on July 20, the President-General of Ogbaru Main Market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, urged political, traditional and community leaders across the South-East to mobilise all eligible citizens to take advantage of the remaining registration period.
‎

‎Chief Ochiogu also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deploy additional registration personnel to markets, villages and other public locations to make the exercise more accessible to prospective voters.
‎

‎In support of the appeal, Mr. Apee Emeka called on community and political leaders to work collaboratively to boost participation in the ongoing voter registration exercise across the South-East.
‎

‎He expressed concern that the attitude of some political leaders had discouraged many eligible citizens from registering and urged governments and relevant authorities to provide INEC officials with adequate transportation and logistical support.
‎

‎According to him, improved logistics would enable registration officials to reach more communities and significantly increase voter enrolment across the region before the registration exercise concludes.
‎

‎Also speaking, Mrs. Alanma Egwu advised parents to provide proper guidance and mentorship to young people between the ages of 18 and 30, cautioning them against being used by desperate politicians. She stressed that responsible civic engagement and active participation in the electoral process are essential to safeguarding democracy, preserving personal integrity and securing future opportunities.
