The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Anambra State Urban Water Assets Holding Corporation (ASUWAHC), Mrs. Emmanuella Okafor has reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to strengthening water infrastructure, enhancing service delivery across the state during a strategic technical working visit to the Greater Onitsha Regional Water Scheme.

Mrs. Okafor, accompanied by the Onitsha Zonal Head, Engr. Francis C. Udoh and members of his team, conducted a comprehensive inspection of ongoing projects under the regional water scheme to assess progress, evaluate performance and ensure compliance with established technical and operational standards.

The inspection covered the scheme’s three major components: the GRA Package Treatment Component, the Crash Programme Owelle-Ebo Component and the Terminal Reservoir/Army Barracks Component, providing an opportunity for the OIC to review the extent of work completed by the project contractors, OVAMAN Pumps Limited and BIRSA Water Limited and to assess overall project implementation.

During the tour, Mrs. Okafor engaged extensively with staff of the Onitsha ASUWAHC Zonal Office, encouraging them to maintain a high level of professionalism, initiative and commitment to the corporation’s mandate of delivering sustainable and efficient water supply services to residents.

She commended both contractors for the substantial progress recorded to date while highlighting areas requiring additional attention to ensure timely completion of the projects and full adherence to quality and performance standards.

The visit concluded positively, with the Onitsha Zonal team and the contractors expressing renewed confidence and commitment following the OIC’s hands-on engagement and constructive assessment of project activities.

Stakeholders described the visit as a clear demonstration of ASUWAHC’s dedication to the successful delivery of the Greater Onitsha Regional Water Scheme, a critical infrastructure project expected to significantly improve access to safe and potable water for residents across the region.
