The Executive Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Kenneth Akwuobi, has congratulated the people of Ogbaru, Anambra State and Nigerians across the country on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
In a goodwill message released through his office on June 12, Hon. Akwuobi described democracy as more than a process of electing leaders, noting that it embodies the enduring principles of justice, peace, inclusiveness, accountability and equal opportunities for all citizens.
He urged residents of Ogbaru to remain committed to strengthening democratic institutions through active participation in governance, constructive engagement on issues affecting their communities and collective efforts toward the development of the Local Government Areas(LGA).
The Mayor paid tribute to Nigeria’s founding democratic heroes and other patriots whose sacrifices laid the foundation for the nation’s democratic journey.
According to him, their dedication and commitment to the ideals of freedom and good governance should continue to inspire citizens to work together in building a more prosperous and equitable society.
“May the spirit and sacrifices of our heroes past continue to inspire and guide us as we work together to build a more prosperous, peaceful and equitable society for present and future generations,” he stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to good governance and people-centered leadership, Hon. Akwuobi assured residents of Ogbaru of continued efforts to deliver sustainable development, improve public welfare and create opportunities that will enhance the quality of life across the LGA.
He wished the people of Ogbaru and Nigerians at large a peaceful, joyful and memorable Democracy Day celebration.
