The member representing Okpoko Ogbaru 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Noble Chukwunonso Igwe, has empowered 100 petty traders across the constituency as part of efforts to support grassroots businesses and improve livelihoods.
The empowerment programme, held on Sept. 15, provided beneficiaries with assistance aimed at strengthening their businesses, improving daily income and enhancing their capacity to meet household needs amid prevailing economic challenges.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Beatrice Onukwe and Mrs. Angelina Okechukwu, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for the intervention, describing the support as timely and beneficial.
Speaking during the presentation, Mrs. Rosemary Udeh thanked Igwe for extending the initiative to petty traders, promising to utilise the support responsibly to improve her business and livelihood.
Similarly, Onukwe and Okechukwu expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying the intervention would help sustain their businesses and contribute to the welfare of their families.
The initiative highlights the role of petty traders in sustaining grassroots commerce, providing livelihoods and supporting economic activities within communities across Ogbaru 1 Constituency.
The beneficiaries were encouraged to make judicious use of the support, strengthen their businesses and continue contributing to the economic development of their communities.
