The Obosi Development Association, Los Angeles, USA (ODALA), has donated a 12-unit toilet facility to Union Secondary School, Obosi (USS, Obosi), Anambra State, to curb open defecation and restore dignity for students and staff. The school was recently upgraded to a smart school while the facility was commissioned on April 14, 2026, at the school’s hall in Obosi.
Representing the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka commended ODALA for the intervention and cited Obosi’s longstanding record of excellence in education. “I am pleased that ODALA provided toilet facilities for the students and staff of USS, Obosi. I pray that God blesses all the donors whose contributions made this project a success,” he said.

Principal of the school, Mrs. Ebele Onugha expressed appreciation to ODALA, noting that the school had operated for years without toilet facilities. “What once seemed impossible has now become reality”. she said. She acknowledged Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma and Engr. Eric Anyamene for their contributions to the school’s infrastructure and security.
President of ODALA, Mr. Okechukwu Uzoegwu, thanked members for their financial support and urged the Obosi community to maintain the facilities to prevent damage or dereliction. He also praised Mrs. Nneamaka Chidoka and Amuche Okoye, both Obosi indigenes on staff, for their sacrifices toward the project’s completion.
Other stakeholders present included Mrs. Uchenna Akabogu, who represented the President of the USS, Obosi Old Students’ Association, Dr. Ndidi Ofole; Mrs. Nneamaka Chidoka, who also represented ODALA; Nze Nzube Onugha, father of the day; members of the teaching staff; and selected students.
