The President-General of the Obosi Development Union Worldwide, Chimezie Obi, Esq., has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the government and people of Anambra State on the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation.
In a goodwill message issued to mark the anniversary on Aug. 27, Obi described Anambra’s 35-year journey as a testament to resilience, enterprise and excellence, noting that the state had continued to record progress despite various challenges. He commended Governor Soludo for what he described as visionary leadership under the Solution Agenda, saying the administration had demonstrated its commitment to improving the lives of residents through visible and measurable development projects.
According to Obi, Obosi has benefited directly from the administration’s development efforts, particularly in road rehabilitation and construction. He expressed optimism that the planned erosion-control interventions would further protect homes and improve connectivity within the community. The Obosi leader also applauded the state government’s security initiatives, particularly Agunechemba and Udo Ga-Achi, which he said had helped restore peace and confidence in markets, schools and residential areas.
He noted that the ongoing rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres and public schools was positively impacting families in Obosi, while reforms in land administration, street trading and revenue collection were promoting greater orderliness and strengthening the state’s internally generated revenue.
Expressing appreciation to Governor Soludo for including Obosi in his development plans, Obi said, “We see the work, and we feel the impact.”
He also acknowledged the contributions of the founding fathers and former governors of Anambra State, including Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Dr. Chris Ngige, Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano, to the growth and development of the state. Obi described Obosi as a major stakeholder in the Anambra project, highlighting the economic importance of the Mgbuka Obosi Spare Parts Market, which he described as one of Nigeria’s major automobile trading hubs.
He said the market employs thousands of people and contributes significantly to the economies of Anambra and neighbouring states. The President-General further noted that Obosi indigenes had distinguished themselves in fields including academia, law, engineering, medicine, industry, public service and technology.
He added that the community contributes substantially to the revenue base of Idemili North Local Government Area and Anambra State through markets, industries, land rates, business premises and other economic activities.
“Obosi remains a beacon of peace, culture and hospitality. Our commitment to unity and development continues to strengthen Idemili North and Anambra at large,” he said.
Obi pledged the continued support of the Obosi community for the Soludo administration, assuring that the community would partner with the state government towards building a more prosperous, livable and smart Anambra.
He said Obosi would continue to support the protection of public infrastructure, fulfil its civic obligations and mobilise its people in support of the Solution Agenda.
However, he appealed to the state government to sustain its partnership with Obosi by completing erosion-control projects, expanding the road network and strengthening security and waste-management infrastructure in the community.
Obi described the 35th anniversary as an occasion worthy of celebration despite the challenges facing the state, expressing optimism that Anambra’s future remained bright under purposeful leadership. “May Anambra continue to grow. May Obosi continue to prosper,” he stated.
