The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, joined distinguished scholars, policymakers, industry experts and stakeholders at the 7th International Hybrid Conference 2026 organized by the Department of Accountancy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, in collaboration with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).
The annual conference, themed “Shaping Africa’s Future Through Accounting, Governance, Technology and Sustainable Business Management,” was held as part of activities marking the Department’s 2026 Accounting Week celebration. The event commenced on June 16 and is scheduled to conclude on June 18 at the Department of Accountancy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Speaking through various sessions, participants explored emerging trends in accounting, financial reporting, governance, technology, and sustainable business practices, with experts emphasizing the critical role of accountability and innovation in driving Africa’s development.
The conference, organized by the Head of Department of Accountancy, featured symposiums, interactive sessions, paper presentations, and knowledge-sharing engagements, making it a unique platform for academic and professional discourse.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim; Professor Suleiman A. S. Aruwa of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Nasarawa State University, Keffi; Major General Charles Ofoche (Rtd), former Director-General of the Defence Research and Development Bureau; Professor France O. Nwankwo, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, UNIZIK; Professor Onyinye Eneh, Head, Department of Accountancy, UNIZIK; Professor Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University; Chief Osita Chidoka, former Minister of Aviation; Dr. Rabiu Olowo, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria; and Professor Chinedu Egbunike, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, among others.
Presenting the second lead paper, Major General Charles Ofoche (Rtd) stressed that Africa’s future can only be shaped through deliberate economic transformation anchored on good governance, human capital development, technological advancement, cultural values, security, and sustainability.
Participants commended the organizers for sustaining the annual conference, describing it as a valuable platform for fostering innovation, strengthening governance frameworks, and advancing sustainable business management across the continent.
A major highlight of the conference was the presentation of awards to deserving individuals and the delivery of lead papers by renowned y professionals.
