The Nnewi North Local Government Area(LGA) has launched a campaign to identify out-of-school children, encourage their return to school and mobilise community support for access to basic education.
The campaign was officially flagged off at the Nnewi North Local Government Secretariat on, Sept. 16, with a call for parents, guardians, community leaders and other stakeholders to play an active role in ensuring that children are enrolled and remain in school.
Speaking at the launch, the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Ibenemen Onyeka, said the initiative was part of the administration of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Echezona Anazodo’s, commitment to supporting efforts that promote education, ensuring that no child is left behind.
Onyeka explained that the campaign would focus on identifying children who are currently out of school, raising awareness about the importance of education and encouraging families to return affected children to the classroom.
He stressed that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, develop their abilities and build a better future, describing education as a fundamental right of every child.
He called on parents and guardians to ensure that school-age children are enrolled, while urging community leaders and other stakeholders to help identify children who are not attending school and support efforts to reconnect them with education.
The supervisor emphasised that keeping children in school requires collective action, urging communities to take responsibility for ensuring that no child is left without an opportunity to learn.
He said the success of the campaign would depend on parents, communities and stakeholders working together to identify out-of-school children and help bring them back into the classroom.
