The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will commence its ward-by-ward Continuous Voter Registration exercise across Nnewi North Local Government Area beginning Tuesday, June 30, 2026, targeting eligible residents statewide.
The registration exercise will move sequentially across wards, enabling qualified citizens to register, transfer registrations, replace lost cards, or update personal information at designated centres nearest their communities.
According to the timetable, registration begins at Otolo One on June 30 before progressing through Otolo Two, Otolo Three, Uruagu, Umudim and Nnewichi wards until July 10, respectively.
INEC advised eligible residents aged eighteen years and above to attend designated registration centres with their National Identification Number or other valid means of identification for seamless biometric capture.
Stakeholders noted that obtaining a Permanent Voter Card remains essential for participating in elections, determining political leadership, influencing governance, and strengthening democratic representation across Nnewi North and beyond effectively.
Community leaders observed that Nnewi North’s industrial significance and growing population require increased voter registration to enhance the area’s political relevance, attract development projects, appointments, and greater governmental attention consistently.
Residents were encouraged to mobilise family members, neighbours, church congregations, market associations, youth organisations, and town unions to participate actively throughout the registration period and promote civic responsibility together.
The registration exercise will hold at designated ward centres daily according to schedule, providing convenient access for eligible residents seeking new registration, transfers, corrections, or replacement of damaged voter cards.
Eligible residents have therefore been urged to seize the opportunity by registering promptly, stressing that every valid Permanent Voter Card strengthens democracy and gives citizens meaningful voices during future electoral processes.
