The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the Mayor Elect of Njikoka Local Government Area, Dr. Ikechukwu Okakpu, and his Deputy following their victory in the Aug. 29 local government election.
The presentation took place at the ANSIEC headquarters in Awka, alongside the presentation of certificates to other elected local government chairmen, their deputies and councillors in the state on Sept. 1.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, Okakpu described it as confirmation of the mandate given to the incoming administration by the people of Njikoka.
He thanked God, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), party leaders, supporters and members of his campaign team for their support during the election.

Okakpu said the conclusion of the election had ushered in a new phase of responsibility, adding that the incoming administration would focus on accountability and the development of the local government area.
“We are ready to serve. We are ready to work. We are ready to justify the confidence reposed in us,” he said.

The Mayor Elect appealed to residents of Njikoka to remain united and support the incoming administration as it prepares to assume office.

He said the administration would work to justify the confidence placed in it by the electorate.
