NIGER PROVINCIAL COUNCIL OF LAITY ANGLICAN COMMUNION CONCLUDES CONVENTION IN GRAND STYLE

The Niger Provincial Council of Laity Anglican Communion has ended its second edition of its annual convention in Awka with the theme, ‘The Dry Bones Shall Rise Again’

In a message to the occasion, the President of the Council, Sir Chris Ukachukwu, Fellow Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria ,expressed joy over the successful completion of the convention which cardinal objective was to foster understanding among the body of laity and the clergy for the promotion of the activities of the church.

Sir Chris anchoring on the theme of the convention, suggested a bold attempt to be made by leaders in all arms of government to provide good governance for the people.

The president expects the laity to work according to the dictates of its constitution and seek means of fostering love and understanding across Christian religious divides operating under one body of Jesus Christ.

In a speech, the Archbishop of the Niger Province and the Anglican Bishop of Awka Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim PhD. called on the executive members of the Laity to aim at reaching out to the affluent in the society for financial support in synergy with their spiritual endowments to strengthen the objectives of the Council.

Archbishop Ibezim promised to assist them to achieve their aims and objectives.

During the convention, a former Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Campus, Prof. Cliff Nwanna bagged an Exceptional Community Service Award for his inestimable contributions to the growth of the Awka Anglican Diocese and beyond.

The spouse of the awardee, Mrs Christiana Nwanna and one of the sons, Mr. Chukwuma Nwanna paid glowing tribute to their husband and father for distinguishing himself as an exemplary academic and laity member.

The duo wished him the best in his life endeavors.

Some dignatories that graced the occasion included Prince Humphrey Nsofor, another awardee at the convention, Professor Geoffrey Onyejegbu among others.
