The National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) through the State Operations Coordinating Units (SOCU) in the States is currently implementing a nationwide household update and expansion exercise of National Social Register (NSR)of the poor and vulnerable.
The exercise is aimed at improving the accuracy, coverage and integrity of the National Social Register (NSR).
This was contained in a letter issued to the State Coordinators by the National Coordinator, Dr. Funmi Olotu On Community update and expansion of National Social Register (NSR).
The letter which was signed by the Admin and human resource manager, Amaka Asiegbu for the National Coordinator, stated that community harmonization is the critical foundational component of the exercise, as it involves systematic cleaning of communities of spelling inconsistencies, and accurate alignment of communities in their respective wards and local governments area.
“Communities harmonization is not a one-off activity but continuous process throughout the exercise.
The quality and credibility of household data generated during the update and expansion depend largely on how accurately communities are harmonized and aligned within the correct administrative boundaries.
Errors at this level cascade into broader data integrity issues, affecting household targeting, reporting and program implementation,” the letter reads.
She also charged the state teams to fully prepare and equip themselves with necessary operational and digital tools to ensure seamless field implementation, monitoring and validation during the ongoing NSR update and expansion exercise.
