The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has received a delegation from the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) for a four-day assessment of key population (KP)-friendly HIV services in five selected health facilities across the state.
The exercise, taking place from Sept. 14 to 17, is designed to assess the quality and integration of HIV services provided to key populations and identify areas where additional support may be required.
It follows a Global Fund supported training for healthcare workers from the selected facilities, which focused on strengthening their capacity to provide respectful, inclusive and non discriminatory HIV services.
During the assessment, the NACA team will review how trained healthcare workers are applying the skills acquired during the training, examine service delivery practices and identify gaps that may affect access to quality care.
The exercise will provide an opportunity for the national and state teams to share practical insights and strengthen approaches that can help create a more welcoming healthcare environment for key populations.
The NACA delegation will work with relevant state HIV response stakeholders, including the SACA Prevention Officer, SASCP and the State KP Chair, throughout the exercise.
The assessment is part of broader efforts to strengthen HIV prevention, testing, treatment and care services in Anambra and promote access to healthcare without stigma or discrimination.
