Residents and motorists in the High Tension area of Aroma, Awka, near the road leading to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, were thrown into panic following a multiple-vehicle collision involving three cars.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on May 13, 2026, and involved a gold-coloured Toyota Sienna wagon, a Toyota Corolla saloon, and a Toyota Camry saloon.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Sienna, allegedly traveling at high speed, lost control and struck the Toyota Corolla near the junction leading to High Tension Road before colliding with a parked Camry. The impact propelled the Camry into a nearby supermarket along the Aroma axis, resulting in substantial damage to goods and property within the premises.
Mr. Emeka Eze, an eyewitness, stated that the driver of the Sienna appeared to have lost control due to excessive speed. He noted that the vehicle first struck the ash-coloured Corolla before veering into the rear of the parked Camry, pushing it into the supermarket.
Although the full extent of the damage had not been determined at the time of filing this report, residents at the scene expressed relief that no fatalities occurred. One pedestrian was reportedly brushed aside during the incident but escaped without serious injury.
Personnel from the B Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Awka, arrived shortly after to manage traffic and evacuate the damaged vehicles to the station for further investigation.
