MINISTRY OF WORKS BEGINS NEW WORK YEAR WITH A SOLEMN DEDICATION SERVICE

The new work year at the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Awka began with a solemn service held at the Ministry of Works premises, bringing public officials and staff together in a moment of prayer and reflection.

It was a purposeful gathering that placed the responsibilities of leadership and service in the year ahead before God.

At the Service, the Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Rt. Revd. Ephraim Ikeakor delivered a reflective homily, drawing from Daniel 6:1-5. with the topic “Blessings of God through faithful service”. The cleric drew analogy from the faithfulness and dedication of Daniel while serving in the Babylonian palace.

Bishop Ikeakor said that God does not bless quantity of works but the quality of your works. “The concern of God is not your success but faithfulness. If you pursue faithfulness, success must follow. Unfaithfulness is wickedness”.

He went on to mention the three template that sustain one in civil service which included, faithfulness in service, integrity in character and excellent in result.

According to Bishop Ikeakor, If you have this three things working for you, nobody will ever pull you down.

He reminded all present that no institution, administration, or personal effort can endure without God at its foundation. “Set God aside in your agenda, you have killed prospects”. He encouraged everyone to place their work, decisions, and service in the new year under God’s guidance.

In his welcome speech, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma welcomed the staff back to work after the Christmas and New year celebrations. He said it is always good to start the new year with God, and reminded us to always rely on God at all times and encouraged us to create a room for God to work through us.

Engr. Okoma said that the success made by the Ministry was a collective effort and charged the staff to redouble their efforts by being dedicated to their duties and avoid complacency, as sustained progress depends on the consistent contributions of everyone involved.

The event was a symbolic act of committing our activities to God for diligence and integrity in service delivery and it featured hymns, ministration, prayer and dancing.

The Commissioner used the occasion to introduce the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Martins Agbili.
